As target shooting is so inclusive for all ages, it is ideal for family functions, ‘stag’ and ‘hen’ activity days, reunions – and a great opportunity for youngsters and grandparents to earn mutual respect and admiration in an environment that rewards learning, concentration and acquired skill. And all the while having superb fun.
The limit for shooting is not set by age, but by ability to understand instructions and adopt new skills fairly quickly – “coachability”, and by maturity – being able to operate safely and to concentrate. To date, a 10-year girl has been the youngest who has achieved swiftly a standard of shooting comparable to that of adults ……. and she won the final shooting match!
Please note, as children do have particular supervision requirements, they generally don’t get to simply “join in occasionally”, so please understand and respect that. We will endeavour whenever possible to factor in a reasonable compromise when there is a sufficiently large group of full-paying adults.
For families with very small children that need adults to take shifts on toddler-watch, East Grange is ideal. The range itself is fully enclosed, and within sight of the other amenities. Spectators sitting in the comfortable bistro and coffee area can view easily the firing point and targets. Young children can be amused, watched, changed and fed, while the adults have fun outside in turns. East Grange has a small children’s play area, and there are ample open fields, a millpond, and woods suitable for walking kids in buggies.
